The Master of Fine Arts degree is awarded for completion of 60 credits. Transfer credits are not accepted. Students must maintain a 3.0 cumulative grade point average and fulfill all requirements in a timely manner.
In your first year, the core studios immerse you in cutting-edge projects designed to stimulate and support your professional and artistic growth. You work on these projects under the guidance of expert guest lecturers of various professional backgrounds, including designers, magazine editors, art directors, stylists, artists, and talent managers. You also explore a range of topics and techniques in professional seminars that prepare you for thesis work in your second year.
During your third semester, you have the opportunity to design a personalized experience with your program director that may include beginning to develop your thesis concept at Parsons Paris; interning at a Paris-based or European fashion house, at an art studio, or in a creative industry; or studying at the Parsons campus in NYC.
The fourth and final semester of the program is dedicated entirely to your thesis project. The final thesis can take a variety of forms, ranging from a fashion collection to a project that approaches fashion as wearable art to a fashion-related collaboration with performing artists
